Dr.Abhijit M. Zende
(Head of The Department)

The Civil engineering program will serve Connecting link to the nation by providing a quality engineering education that enables students to enter a profession that can improve the civil infrastructure, and economic welfare. Our civil engineering program will maintain a strong emphasis on undergraduate education with the goal that our program will be recognized for quality instruction in civil engineering analysis and design. An important emphasis of the civil engineering program is preparation of students for professional engineering licensure and practice, and we expect that most of our students will pursue this objective following graduation

Vision

To develop professionally competent Civil Engineers, capable of offering Community services for Nation building.

Mission
  • To impart students with civil engineering knowledge for empowering them with essential technical skills and professional ethics required for industry and research.
  • To foster effective interactions and networking with all stakeholders for the benefit and continuous development of the profession and society.

Program Education Objectives:

Guided by the Mission of the institute and the department, the Civil engineering program is committed to transform students into good human beings, responsible and competent citizens. At the time of graduation, it is expected that our students can
PEO-1:  Apply scientific and mathematical principles to solve civil engineering problems.
PEO-2: Capable of conceptualizing, planning, designing and constructing Civil Engineering structures based on fundamental principles.
PEO-3: Pursue higher education for upgrading knowledge and acquiring state-of-the-art professional skills.
PEO-4: Engage in lifelong learning for being strongly committed to quality, safety, reliability and environmental sustainability.

Program Specific Objectives:

The undergraduate course (B.E. CIVIL) offered by the department has following specific objectives:
PSO 1: The Graduates of this Program with proficiency in mathematics and basic sciences will excel in the core areas of civil engineering such as structural, environmental, geotechnical and water resources engineering.
PSO 2: The graduates will interact with project stakeholders and execute quality construction work by applying necessary technical skills.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES:

1. Engineering Knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, for providing solution of complex civil engineering problems.

2. Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate and analyze complex civil engineering problems for providing substantiated conclusions.

3. Design/Development of solutions: Design solutions for complex civil engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the cultural, social and environmental considerations.

4. Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems: Use research- based knowledge & research methods including design of experiments, analysis & interpretation of data to provide effective conclusions.

5. Modern Tool Usage: Create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering for prediction and modeling of complex engineering phenomenon with an understanding of constrains involved.

6. The Engineer and Society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess social, cultural and legal issues along with consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

7. Environment and Sustainability: Understand the impact of civil engineering solutions on the environment and try to provide sustainable solutions.

8. Ethics: Depict commitment towards professional ethics, responsibilities and norms of the civil engineering practice.

9. Individual and Team Work: Function effectively as a team member in a group with the capacity to be a leader or manager.

10. Communication: Communicate effectively in diverse global environments.

11. Project Management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply to manage projects in multi-disciplinary environments.

12. Lifelong Learning: Have the ability to engage in independent & life-long learning for understanding the ever widening sphere of knowledge.
